Perfumery Aged Like Spirits

Most perfumers macerate their compositions in steel tanks or glass for weeks before bottling. Brodēon, created by Hungarian perfumer Tom Hidvégi, does something unusual: every fragrance is matured for three months in Sicilian oak barrels — the same barrels used for aging wine and spirits. The wood itself becomes part of the formula, rounding the alcohol, softening sharp edges, and giving each composition a depth that steel maceration can't replicate.

The Brodēon Method

Barrel-aging is common in spirits and wine but rare in perfumery — it's slow, small-batch by necessity, and expensive relative to industrial maceration. Brodēon treats this as the point rather than a limitation: four fragrances, matured identically, each developing its own character from the same oak.

Every Brodēon fragrance shares a structural signature — a bright, often fruity opening; a textured, naturalistic heart; and a warm resinous-amber base that carries the barrel's influence through to the drydown.

Ruméa

An olfactory escape — an intoxicating fusion of aged rum and creamy coconut. Opens with the rich aroma of aged rum wrapped in strawberry, nectarine, blackcurrant and rose. The heart reveals creamy coconut with a tropical twist, pine and patchouli adding structure, jasmine keeping it luminous. The base settles into caramel, amber, sandalwood and musk.

Mielor

A decadent oriental floral — velvety honey wrapped in the sensuality of ripe plum, unfolding on resinous warmth. Cuiré

A sophisticated leather Extrait de Parfum — bold, enigmatic, where floral bouquet meets smoky leather with a spicy edge. The opening is unexpectedly aquatic and bright: marine accord, citrus, rose and pineapple, giving no hint of the darkness to come. The heart reveals rich smoky leather with green accord, jasmine and berry; the base lingers in amber, caramel, musk and moss.
